yea we're here...

So it's going to be a mid-western Christmas after all.  Tim and I are home, flew into Minneapolis on the 21st.   So we've been here a good couple of weeks by now and have survived just fine except for the typical case of jetlag. Going to China we had no problem and jumped right into the right time zone but coming back we weren't so lucky.  Tragic, right? I think we'll survive.

Anyway, lots of questions have been asked as to what the heck is going on.  Why are we here? well, I'll tell you a teeny bit.  It's a really complicated issue with layers and layers of things that would need to be explained, but I'm not going to go into the nitty grittys.  Basically it comes down to we had to come back as part of a problem with our work visas.  We would indeed love to return but we have issue after issue with our employer so we are wondering if dealing with this particular institution is worth the hassle.  It's honestly been one thing after another and it's very tiring.  We have enjoyed teaching. The students, while challenging they were not a problem.  But with our employer being so uncooperative and well...sketchy, we are exploring another option.  So, without making any final decisions we do know that we are at least back through January-ish...and if the college makes even a teeny tiny bit of effort to correct the issues at hand we may be returning.  If not, I guess we are looking for jobs here, possibly going back to teach in another country. Possibly even another school in China. We have nothing planned and everything is just a little out of our reach at the moment.  When anything is decided i'll let yall know but in the mean time I'm around...bouncing around somewhere between Minneapolis and Chicago.  Living out of a suitcase and having NO idea where you might be 6 months from now is both invigorating and I must admit, a bit scary.  In the mean time we are poor and in need of seeing our dear friends, so give us a call and let us know when you are free! Our schedule is wiiiddeee open.

  1. Well, you are welcome to come to Romania for a very rich experience in teaching :). Enjoy the States for the holidays. I think your situation is not bad (I've been there myself)because you can really see how the Lord provides everything you need. You get to see that there is really no need to know where you'll be 6 months/weeks/days from now. It is exhausting, for sure, but I hope you will get closer to the Lord this way...I enjoyed your feedback from China, particularly the post about the language differences.

  3. Mulțumesc Amanda :) We would like to go to Romania but unfortunately foreign English teachers are paid very little there and a big part of our doing this is so we can save up a bit. It's not out of the question though, if Tim is able to get a job at an art gallery or teaching photo classes or something we would be up for it. Either way we will try to come soon for a visit!
